Oaxaca, Mexico: Thumbs down to Oaxaca

Governor Ulises Ruiz Ortiz sent a personal letter to each of the foreign embassies in Mexico which had issued warnings to their respective citizens to avoid us like the plague. The governor invited the embassy officials and their staffs and families to visit the city and state to celebrate Christmas or New Year's, or both.

The response was unanimous.

Mark in Mexico, http://markinmexico.blogspot.com/, Pale Horse Galleries for gifts, collectibles, Mexican arts and crafts, http://palehorsemex.vstore.ca/, Oaxaca Governor Ulises Ruiz Ortiz is snubbed by several foreign embassies when he invites them to spend Christmas or New Year's in Oaxaca.

The embassies for the following countries responded promptly by promptly failing to respond:
USA
Canada
France
Italy
Germany
Spain
Great Britain
Argentina
Brasil
Chile
Colombia
Japan
China
Atlantis
The Wonderful World of Disney
al Qaeda
The Oaxaca daily Noticias printed this story yesterday, but because I only believe 10% of what I see in Noticias and nothing of what I read there, I awaited confirmation from a real newspaper.

All snark aside, it would have been really nice if someone had responded positively.

Somebody.

Anybody.
