Rove tells Novak Rehnquist to retire

Post title just funnin' y'all. Seriously, I do not have a big problem with Robert Novak, most of the time. However, sometimes he is just a little bit too much to take. In this amazing piece of work titled "Bush is biggest obstacle to a conservative court", Novak forgets that George Bush is the president of all the people. He also conveniently forgets that Bush has a long tough slog ahead to get 1, 2, or 3 Supreme Court nominees through a balky and fractured Senate. Novak, instead of attacking Ted Kennedy, Patrick Leahy, Chris Dodd, Charles Schumer and Dianne Feinstein who will lead the fight against any Bush nominee, attacks Gonzales and Bush. And then the howlers. First, he says that Bush has put forth "friendship" as a qualification for being named to the high court. He did? When was that? What a load of crap that statement is. Then Novak outdoes that one by saying,
The right's morale was devastated by the president's comments in a USA Today telephone interview published on the newspaper's front page Tuesday: "Al Gonzales is a great friend of mine. When a friend gets attacked, I don't like it."
Novak forgets a couple of things. Bush is a Texan to whom friendship means something. Perhaps Novak is so jaded by his years in Washington that he has forgotten what a friend is. While Novak might not give a damn if one of his friends gets attacked, George Bush surely does. And he is going to say so. The other thing that Novak forgets is that the "right" respects someone who stands up for his friends. That's called morality. Get with the program, Bob. You are fast making yourself irrelevant.
