Egyptian security forces have killed Mohammed Saleh Flayfil, along with his wife, in a shootout in a stone quarry in his mountain hideout near Suez. Flayfil was wanted in connection with the Sharm el Sheikh bombings in Egypt that killed 88 people as well as for the Taba bombings last October that resulted in 34 deaths. According to the Egyptians, Flayfil opened fire on them as they approached his hiding place.
