Latest European cartoon outrage

This is the cartoon published in the German newspaper, Der Tagesspiegel, last Friday. My German is worse than rusty but I think the caption says something to this effect, "Why we need the German army at World Cup Football".

The cartoonist, Klaus Stuttmann, was responding to the ongoing debate inside Germany about whether to use the German army for World Cup security. That would be an alleged violation of the German constitution. Herr Stuttman, now in hiding because of death threats he has received, made the error of stepping on the toes of the Iranian Islamofascists.

The Iranian government has demanded an apology. This report says that the German embassy in Tehran is under attack by stone-throwing mobs. The report also indicates that my German is not as bad as I thought.
