The Republican Party's latest ad is a shameful and disgusting attempt to distract the American people from the problems in Iraq. It may improve the President's political fortunes, but the American people and our troops will pay the price. I hope that President Bush realizes how shameful it is to play politics when what we really need is leadership, and that he will direct his Party to take down this ad immediately. This drips with hypocrisy.
Which party is it that accuses the president of the impeachable offense of lying to the American people in order to start the war, thereby giving aid and comfort to our enemies?
Which party is it that accuses the United States government and its soldiers in the field of terrorism, thereby giving aid and comfort to our enemies?
Which party is it that demands an immediate withdrawal of our forces, thereby giving aid and comfort to the our enemies?
Which party is it that demands a publicized plan for the winning of the war, thereby giving aid and comfort to our enemies in the form of a tactical and strategic advantage?
Which party is it that demands a publicized timetable for the withdrawal of our forces, thereby giving aid and comfort to our enemies in that they would have the tactical advantage of knowing how long they had to wait until their murdering of innocent men, women and children could commence unchallenged?
Which party is it that publicly embraces Cindy Sheehan, Code Pink, George Galloway and Harold Pinter, thereby giving aid and comfort to our enemies?
Which party is it that insists we cannot win this war, thereby giving aid and comfort to our enemies?
Which party is it that has "sold its soul in a cynical bid to win back the White House" (and hell, this come from a Canadian), thereby giving aid and comfort to our enemies?
The answer, of course, is Sen Inouye's own Democratic Party, Sen. Joe Lieberman excepted.
