An unfortunate analogue

Gen. Michael Hayden, the former NSA director, told the National Press Club that the NSA's controversial surveillance program is
narrowly targeted, using the same tools and techniques employed to decide whether to drop a 500-pound bomb on a terrorist target.
WELL, THAT OUGHT MAKE THE DEMS AND THE SQUEALING LEFTIES A LOT MORE COMFORTABLE, NOW, DON'T YOU THINK?

That would be something like the local county extension agent announcing, "Citizens should view our new Mosquito Eradication Program much like Hiroshima and Nagasaki." General Hayden did make this somewhat astonishing claim, which should give everyone pause,
Had this program been in effect prior to 9/11, it is my professional judgment that we would have detected some of the al-Qaida operatives in the United States.
If that is true, or partially true, why are we even having this argument?
