There are "some women who might be appointed who would not advance human rights or women's rights," Ginsburg told those gathered at the New York City Bar Association.Excuse me, Justice Ginsburg, but it is not the function of the courts, any court, including the Supreme Court, to advance rights. Not women's rights, not human rights (notice how she considers human rights and women's rights as separate) nor your rights nor my rights. That is the responsibility of the legislature. The responsibility of the court is to interpret the laws as written by the legislature, period. Damn!
