Lynn Swann plays to win

Via memeorandum comes this report from the NYT on new GOP faces at local and state levels all over the U.S.. Those faces are black faces. It is about time. While the Bush administration may be the most racially diverse presidential administration in the country's history, the death grip that the Democrats have on black voters has only been barely loosened. That may be in the process of change.

Lynn Swann, who is within an eyelash of declaring his candidacy for Pennsylvania governor, is one smart guy. Anyone who accomplished what he did in the most brutal sport on the planet and walked away with knees, hips, shoulders, neck and brain still intact has got to be one smart fellow.

Also fearless. Without any prompting from onlookers or reporters, he addressed the issue of his race head on.
"I'm not here to be the poster child for the Republican Party, to say they're being inclusive by running an African-American," said Mr. Swann, 54. "That's not why I'm here.

I'm here to win."
Linked to: PoliPundit - Swann is a very formidable candidate,
Law Dork - a deceptive, race-baiting headline,
grassroots PA - sacrificial elephants?
