If Democrats can’t win a special election for a seat left open by the guilty plea of a senior Republican congressman for bribery in a political environment that can politely be described as more sour than milk left on the counter for a week, how can they expect to win back control of the House of Representatives, handing the speakership to Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)?And, not yet satisfied, she continues:
But Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean ignores the signal from California at the party’s peril: If the Dems can’t win on the corruption-and-change issue in the district of Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who now sits in a federal prison cell, even when they are running against a former GOP member of Congress turned lobbyist, they better figure out a stronger message. And she soldiers on:
Unfortunately for the Democrats, they have a lot more video footage of Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff than they do of their 2006 candidates conferring with the Minutemen voluntarily patrolling the U.S./Mexico border. That's kind of how I saw it. I also have not seen too much mention of the fact that this was the only race of any real import to the voters in district 50. The Dems had a hot primary going for governor that should have attracted more of them to the polls than Republicans, and that may, in fact, have happened. It's just that too many of them voted for Bilbray. Buckingham closes with a hooter:
Bilbray pointed out his leadership in adding 1,500 border guards during his past stint in Congress and showed footage of himself riding atop a bulldozer cleaning up sewage spilling into California from Tijuana. But it's not the laugher that this is. This guy claims that
Yes, the stink of sewage voters could actually smell beat the stink of being a Washington insider hands down.
Now, his basis for this uproarious claim is,
1. "To be clear, at this hour, we have no evidence to show that Democrat Francine Busby -- running in yesterday's special run-off election in San Diego against Republican Brian Bilbray to replace the disgraced Republican Randy "Duke" Cunningham for the U.S. House (CA-50) race -- actually won it,"and,
2. "Neither do we have evidence to believe that Bilbray actually won it,"
Diebold voting machines were used. Apparently these nefarious machines were the only voting means available solely in heavily Democratic precincts and those Democrats who arrived at heavily Republican precicts were also forced to use them while Republican voters were allowed to mark an X on gold-leafed paper ballots which were then heavily guarded by armed-to-the-teeth, ex CIA/Ranger/Special Forces/Marines until they could be counted 2 for 1.
Well, Brian "Boss Tweed" Bilbray only has to wait 5 short months before he can really kick Francine Busby's butt. Or is that being a bit too indelicate?
